Appointment Guidelines

Before You Book

  • Please complete all of the required trainings prior to booking. All Makerspace Members are required to complete the Safety Training along with the appropriate training for the machine desired.
  • 3D Print pens and Knitting Looms do not require training, however, users must still complete the Makerspace Safety Training.
  • If you would like to purchase items from the Makerspace for your project, please contact the Makerspace prior to your appointment to verify item availability.
  • The Makerspace only accepts cash or check for item purchases.
  • Weekends: The Makerspace is open on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. 
Booking an Appointment
  • Please refer to the booking calendar for appointment times.
  • Members are allowed 1 reservation per day for 2 hours. 1 machine is allowed per reservation.
  • If patrons need additional machines during their appointment time, they must notify the Makerspace staff before their appointment time to verify availability.
  • Members may only book equipment that they are trained on.
  • If you would like assistance from the Makerspace staff during your project, you must book an appointment 24-48 hours in advance. Help is not guaranteed for walk-ins due to staff duties and scheduling.

Walk-ins

  • Walk-ins are accepted during Makerspace open hours.
  • Machine use is subject to availability. 
  • If you would like assistance from the Makerspace staff for your project, please make a reservation in advance. Assistance is not guaranteed for walk-ins and is subject to availability of the Makerspace staff.
  • Walk-ins will not be allowed during Makerspace class times (please check our calendar).
  • Walk-ins are limited to 2 hours in the Makerspace.

Using the Makerspace During Your Appointment

  • Members are only permitted to use their reserved machine during their appointment. 
  • If a member would like to use an additional machine, they must verify availability with a Makerspace staff. 
  • Appointment times are 2 hours per day. 
  • All items relevant to your project must be taken with you upon completion of your time in the Makerspace. Any items left behind in the Makerspace are not the responsibility of the Makerspace staff or the Middletown Public Library.
  • Incomplete projects must be taken with you and brought back at your next appointment time. Projects may not be left within the Makerspace Room.
  • If you need additional time to complete your project, please speak with the Makerspace Librarian.
  • While we encourage collaboration, please refrain from asking other patrons for troubleshooting tips. Please notify a Makerspace staff member if a machine isn’t working properly.
  • Members are responsible for cleaning up their area and putting away any Makerspace items or tools used during their time.
  • All appointments must be completed 30 minutes prior to closing.
