Information About Volunteering
What does a Teen Volunteer Do? -Help with Programs! Help out with Children’s, Tween, and Teen Programs at the library. Programs can be a regular, weekly or monthly assignment, or a one time event. You can also join the Teen Advisory Board (see the info on the right). You can see the current opportunities on the Teen and Tween Calendar, located in the library Children’s Room and Teen Room. -Be a Regular Volunteer! Come in once a week for 1-2 hours to help with general library activities. These will be shelving books, moving books, neatening the shelves, making sure books are in order, and helping with craft and activity preparation. How do I apply to the Volunteer Program? Fill out a Teen Volunteer Application and Policy and hand it in to Melissa, the Teen Librarian, at the the Adult Reference desk in the Community Room. You must be at least 14 years old to be a volunteer. Applications must be filled out completely. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. When will I know if I’ve been selected to be part of the Teen Volunteer Program? Before acceptance into the Teen Volunteer Program, volunteers will be given an interview. Melissa, the Teen Librarian, will select a few volunteer applicants per month for an interview. Applicants will be contacted in the order their applications were received. How will I know what I can volunteer for after I’ve been accepted into the program? All volunteers will be placed on the Teen Volunteer email list. You will receive monthly emails with upcoming volunteering opportunities. They will also be on the back of the Teen and Tween monthly calendar. Any other questions?
