What is 3D Printing?

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a process of creating three-dimensional objects from digital models by layering material—typically plastic—one layer at a time. In a makerspace, 3D printing empowers users to bring their ideas to life, from functional prototypes and replacement parts to artistic sculptures and custom tools. Accessible and versatile, 3D printing is a cornerstone of modern making, encouraging innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on learning across disciplines.
