Meet Darth Vaderand the stormtroopers,at a special "Star Wars" day at the library - fans of all ages are invited. The Doodle Dude (Art Kaney of the Middletown Arts Center)will draw caricatures of young fans, Logan Adams has created a Lego display in the lobby, we'll have lots of Star Wars books and other sci-fi materials on display and available to borrow, and we'll even have light refreshments. Kids - come in costume and bring your own camera if you'd like your picture taken with Darth Vader or a stormtrooper.
Following the Concert on Sunday, at 3:30 pm, meet Barbara Lipton, photographer and organizer of the exhibit "Village Life in Rajasthan" and "Life in Tibet."

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and the Middletown Library wants to make sure that all children in Middletown have the smartest card of all – a library card.
Public library programming and books for children make a difference in the lives of students. By providing school-age children with engaging programs and amazing collections, students of all ages become excited and enthusiastic readers.
Activities at the Middletown Library during Library Card Sign-up Month include teen movies, Zoo Animals, Read to a Dog, Yoga for Kids, and SAT workshops.
Getting a library card is easy.
Just come to the Borrower Services desk with proof of address and fill out a short form. If you're under 18, you need to come in with a parent or guardian. It only takes five minutes.
Observed since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month is a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all.

Children’s and Teen’s Summer Reading Program and to the parents and caregivers who encouraged their children to keep reading over the summer! A recent study conducted by the Dominican University School of Library and Information Science entitled “The Dominican Study- Public Library Summer Reading Programs Close the Reading Gap” showed that “Students who participated in the public library summer reading program scored higher on reading achievement tests at the beginning of the next school year than those students who did not participate and they gained in other ways as well”.
