FORTHCOMING PROGRAMS AT MIDDLETOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY

Summer Concerts at Middletown Main Library

A series of four free summer concerts are scheduled during the month of June at Middletown Main Library.   

Wednesday, June 2, 7:30 p.m. 

Pianist Vladislav Kovalsky and Doug Clark, tenor, will perform a program of lieder including Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin.

Sunday, June 6, 3:00 p.m. 

Patio Concert with Nancy Scharff who will present show tunes and popular songs.  The concert will be held on the library patio.   

Wednesday, June 9, 7:00 p.m. 

Monmouth Conservatory of Music Youth and Children's Chorus 

"Summer Songfest" 

Sunday, June 13, 3:00 p.m. 

Chorus of the Atlantic Men's Barbershop Chorus 

A concert of patriotic and favorite American songs

Summer Movie Series at Middletown Main Library

 Film Commentator Victor Zak Returns 

A series of four free films hosted by film commentator Victor Zak are scheduled during the month of June at Middletown Main Library.   The film series entitled "Hitch and Cary:  Together Again" presents the collaboration of legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock and Cary Grant during the 1940s and 50s. 

At 7:00 p.m. Victor Zak will present background about the stars and the stories, and a short discussion will follow the screenings.  Light refreshments will be served prior to the presentation.

Music Open Mic

Musicians and performers, magicians, poets, and artists entertain at the monthly Open Mic. All Performers welcome.

The library will be closed Sundays during July and August.  Open Mic will resume in September.

Job and Training Opportunities in Bio-Science Industry at Middletown Main Library

Monday, May 17, 7:00 p.m. 

On Monday, May 17, at 7:00 pm, Pat Koziol, President of PEK Associates, Inc., will discuss career opportunities in New Jersey's bio-science Industry.  Learn about the federally-funded NJ Bio-One initiative and other programs New Jersey is using to keep this industry growing.  Ms. Koziol's talk will include how to evaluate your experience, find training opportunities, and how to transition to a career in the bio-science industry.  The presentation will take place in the library's Job Resource Center.  Registration suggested: call 732-671-3700 ext. 320 to register.

“A Tour of the Boardwalks of New Jersey”


How many boardwalks are there? Do other states have boardwalks? Are they all made of wood? What is the most famous boardwalk? These and many other questions will be addressed in a 45-minute presentation hosted by Dick Handschuch and Sal Marino in a fun and memorable presentation on the boardwalks of New Jersey. Referring to themselves as “two old beach bums,” retired educators, Handschuch and Marino’s presentation will take place at Middletown Main Library on Wednesday, July 28th, at 7:30 p.m. They are also authors of “The Beach Bum’s Guide to the Boardwalks of New Jersey.” Middletown Main Library is located at 55 New Monmouth Rd-mtpl.org-732-671-3700x320.

The Roaring 20s at the Jersey Shore

Flappers, the Charleston, radio, rumrunners, Mah Jong, flagpole sitting, hip flasks, marathon dancing – all were rampant at the Jersey Shore during the 1920s. So what made those years roar? That is the topic of Karen Schnitzpahn’s presentation at Middletown Township Public Library on Wednesday, September 23 at 7:30 pm.
