How do I Access the Databases?

Go to Library’s Homepage: http://mtpl.org Click on Do
Research, select database (subject listing on right side), insert your 14 digit barcode number from your library card and your last name.

How do I get a library card?
|
If you live or pay taxes in Middletown Township, you may become a member of the library. You can obtain a free library card at any of the library locations, just by presenting some identification- proof of your address. Children may get their own card when approved by a parent or guardian. Free membership is also available on a one year renewable basis to anyone who works or attends school in Middletown Township. Non-residents may purchase a library card for an annual fee of $75 & $25 for senior citizens.

How do I donate books?

We accept book donations one bag at a time to be dropped off at Borrower Services Desk. The items should be slightly used and in good condition, please no textbooks or technical books.

How do I renew by phone?
|
For telephone renewal call telecirc: To reach TeleCirc II, dial 732 671-1534 or 732 671-1906
Please listen carefully to the options: TeleCirc will ask you to: 1. Enter your full barcode 2. Enter the last four digits of your telephone number.
When you call TeleCirc II the following options are available:
Press: 1. to renew title (the entire list or individual barcode) 2. to list titles on loan 3. to list titles being held with the option to cancel 4. to state fines 5. to list overdue items # to repeat option and * to exit.

How do I renew online?
|
To renew online, visit the library web site www.mtpl.org. Select “My Account” and enter your card number and the last four digits of your phone number.
You can check titles you have out, renew titles you have out, check titles being held for pick-up, check outstanding balances, and search the Library Catalog.
To avoid late fees, renewals must be completed before midnight of the due date. You will be notified if an item is not renewable. Items on HOLD for another patron may not be renewed. If no renewal date is given, the item is not renewed. Please check carefully. You may renew an item up to four times before it must be returned to the library.
Phone number change? Please notify the library so we may correct your customer profile. The system will not recognize you unless our files match your information.

How do I reserve books online?
|
You can reserve an item online if it is in the catalog but not available (checked out, cataloging, on order, etc). Select item, click on REQUEST ITEM. Click on MY ACCOUNT log in with your library card number and pin, AND click on REQUEST. The library will call when the item becomes available. Pick up at the Borrowers Services Desk.

How do I tell the difference between adult and children’s books?
|
Children’s books, media and sound recording all have a J or JE as part of their call number. Teen books call number start with Teen or Ya. Adult fiction are labeled Fic and first three letters of the author's last name and non fiction start with 00.01 and up.

How do I use the catalog?
|
Go to our website: mtpl.org click on Explore MTPL Catalog. Type your query and click on search. To narrow your search, on the right you can select the format (book, media, sound recording, etc) .Just below your search you can sort by relevance, year, title and author by clicking on the drop down menu.
